What are the most common uses of a dedicated server?
The most common uses are as hosting servers, development servers, staging servers, email servers, data backup servers, photo servers, gaming servers, file servers, monitoring servers, or as failover servers to existing network setups.

What versions of Linux do you offer?
Red Hat, Fedora, Free BSD, Debian, CentOS

What versions of Windows Server do you offer?
Windows 2003 Server Web, Windows 2003 Server Standard, and Windows 2003 Enterprise.

What control panels do you offer?
Our control panel options are Direct Admin, Plesk, and cPanel. These options are available with Linux systems only. For Windows, we offer Plesk.

Can I change the physical specifications of the server?
Hardware changes can be made at any time to any of our servers. Changes may affect your setup and monthly recurring charges.

Where will my server be housed?
Your server will be housed in a concrete reinforced, building inside of a building colocation facility with redundant Caterpillar generators and Liebert UPS power backups, Inergen fire suppression system, and Liebert air handlers. The facility is protected by multiple stage entry points, as well as video surveillance.

What type of connection will the server have?
All servers are connected via their own 100Mbps cross connection to data center switches which have redundant Tier-One backbone connections.

Who will have control of the server?
You will have complete root access control over the server. Once you change the root password we do not have any root access control over the server.

What types of applications can I load onto the server?
You may load any applications you wish as long as they do not violate our Acceptable Use Policy.

What is the definition of a reboot?
Generally, a reboot refers to instances when we have to physically reboot your server. You are free to reboot your server remotely by yourself at any time, at no charge. This is one of the many benefits to having your own dedicated server.

What is the definition of a system restore?
A system restore is when we have to restore your server to the same state that it was in when you first received your welcome package. This is usually only happens when a customer does catastrophic damage to their system OS.

How many IP addresses can I  have with a server?
Each server comes with 8 IP addresses and 5 of those are usable.  Additional IP addresses can be requested, but will require justification.  Each IP address is $1 per IP address per month.

What are the terms of your Dedicated service offerings?
Alterascape generally provides its standard services (any service listed on our web site) on a month-to-month term and you can cancel at anytime with just 30 days prior written notice. All of Alterascape’s services are provided subject to our Terms of Service (which included our Acceptable Use Policy).

How many U are in a Rack?
There are 42Us in our Racks

How much power comes with the Rack?
A 20 Amp circuit comes with the Rack and an additional 20 Amp circuit can be purchased for $200 /mo and $250 Setup

How many IP addresses can I  have?
Each server comes with 8 IP addresses and 5 of those are usable.  Additional IP addresses can be requested, but will require justification.  Each IP address is $1 per IP address per month.

What are the terms of your colocation service offering?
Alterascape generally provides its standard services (any service listed on our web site) on a month-to-month term and you can cancel at anytime with just 30 days prior written notice. Is Alterascape eSourcing for everyone?
The servers are designed to be both self-managed and managed by Alterascape. We can create a custom solution to meet customer needs.

Do you own your own Data Center?
Yes our Data Center is privately owned and operated

What Internet Carriers do you have?
We have two Internet Carriers Level 3 and Time Warner

Are the Internet Carriers redundant?
Yes the Internet carriers and the routers and switches are all set up in a EBGP and OSPF network for complete redundancy.

Do you allow resellers?
Yes. Some of our largest customers are hosting companies who are reselling space on our servers as shared hosting to their clients. We encourage the resale of our servers.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Paypal. You may also pay by check, but this will result in slower activation. 

What if I want to change my services?
Addition/Removal of Services: Services, with the exception of bandwidth, may be added at any time. The effective date for such additional services (except for increases to monthly minimum bandwidth commitment), is the date of activation or installation, whichever occurs first. The effective date for all increases to monthly minimum bandwidth commitment will be first Billing Date following such request for such increase. Additional services will begin on such effective date and will be prorated the first month if the effective date occurs after the Billing Date. You may remove services or decrease your service level at any time upon thirty (30) days prior notice. The effective date of such removal of services or decease in services will be effective the first Billing Date following expiration of the thirty (30) day notice.
